Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church                            Onancock, Virginia
We are a Church with
   Open Minds
      Open Hearts
          Open Doors
Many ways to participate!

Small groups within our church family are engaged in many ministries and activities. Just a few examples include our choir, who sing during our Sunday worship; Presbyterian Women, who provide study of the Bible and Bible related topics; Joe's Gang, who engage in fellowship through work projects around the church building and for the community; and Contemplative Movement, which offers gentle reflective stretching. Read more about our ministries on this website. We serve the community in many projects, helping both individuals and organizations in need.

Additional special activities and events...
Youth Volunteers Working on Habitat Projects
Youth volunteers stay at the church over the summer while they help out on various Habitat for Humanity projects here on the Eastern Shore.  Groups visit from other churches, schools, and colleges.
In addition to using our church building as a base, the volunteers use YMCA facilities, including the showers.
They arrange for most of their own meals.  However, Joe's Gang prepares breakfast for the volunteers on one of their work days here.  And the church hosts a cookout or dinner out for them on another evening during the week.

The groups can encounter blistering temperatures,
but they accomplish a great deal for the projects.
Their efforts are very much appreciated by the
Habitat for Humanity staff as well as the families
                                            scheduled to receive the homes.
